Jason Bourne meets Evelyn Salt in this violent, intense and sexy action flick from Atlanta-born director Steven Soderbergh

The star of Haywire is newcomer Gina Carano. Carano is not originally an actress, although you couldn't tell. She holds a 12-1-1 (Win/Lose/Draw) record in Muay Thai and a 7-1-0 record in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

Born in April 1982, the young action hero hasn't been in many films. She starred as herself in American Gladiators in 2008 and a handful of fighting flicks between 2006 and 2009 before become lead in Haywire. Corano is able to bring her MMA background to do some pretty amazing fight scenes, which don't go easy on her. She gets hurt and struggles to win.

Soderbergh has brought together an A-List cast including Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender and even Bill Paxton.

The plot isn't incredibly complex; it might even be called a tad clich√©. Carano plays a black ops wonder named Molly, who is double-crossed during her last mission and tries to survive those out to kill her, while figuring out what went wrong.

The film isn't in an action-packed explosion like Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol or Captain America: The First Avenger. It is more realistic and more grounded, in classic Soderbergh-style fashion.

Soderbergh, if you're not sure, is known for his movies "Contagion", the Ocean's Eleven series, "The Good German", "Traffic", "Erin Brockovich", "Out of Sight" and his breakout movie "Sex, Lies and Videotape".

So whats the bottom line? If you are a fan of MMA, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) or the Bourne Identity series, you will want to see this, probably in theaters. It is a different take on the action movie, but done extremely well. I give it a solid 8 out of 11 on our Showbizometer (yes, that is a word!).
