(USA TODAY) -- Pat Sajak admits he and Vanna White used to throw back a few margaritas while taping "Wheel of Fortune."
In a new interview on ESPN's "Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable," Sajak, who has been hosting "Wheel" for more than 30 years, talked about how he and Vanna White would head over to a nearby Mexican restaurant in Burbank and drink during two-hour dinner breaks.
"Vanna and I would go across and have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet. They're really good tapes to get a hold of," Sajak said.
"We had a different show then. You didn't win money. You won fake money with which you could buy cheesy prizes," he explained.
Did it make the show better or worse?
"I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did OK," he said.
Now, said Sajak, 65, "If I were to inhale the cork of a bottle of wine, I'd probably keel over. I would be hesitant to have anything to drink now -- although I'm hammered at this moment."
