LAS VEGAS - Republican front-runner Mitt Romney cruised to victory in the Nevada caucuses Saturday night.

The former Massachusetts governor held a double-digit lead over his nearest pursuer. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are battling for second place.

Nevada is the first western contest of this primary season.

"This is not the first time you gave me a vote of confidence," Romney said to his supporters during his acceptance speech. "Tis time I'm going to take it all the way to the White House," he said.

It's Romney's third victory of this presidential primary season and caps a week in which his Florida primary win was overshadowed by a controversial comment about the poor.

"Unlike governor Romney, I care very deeply about helping the very poorest americans," said GOP candidate, Newt Gingrich, who is battling Ron Paul for second place in Nevada.

Gingrich says he is not dropping out of the race.

"If you can't tell the truth as a candidate for president, how can the country possibly expect you to lead as president?" Gingrich said.

Ron Paul is focusing on Texas. Rick Santorum finished fourth but said he's staying in the race.

"We're down to the four candidates, three of which have won a state, probably three of which have a chance get the nomination," Santorum said.

The campaign now shifts to Colorado and Minnesota.
