NORCROSS, Ga. -- Several Gwinnett County parents are banding together to make sure that controversial homework assignments become a thing of the past.
Monday night, the NAACP held a town hall meeting in Gwinnett County.
The meeting was hosted in the wake of a scandal at Beaver Ridge Elementary School in Norcross, where third grade teachers handed out a math assignment with questions about beatings and slavery.
The assignment sparked a firestorm of controversy. The teacher who wrote it has since resigned.
NAACP members say they plan to host more meetings in the future to ensure that racism stays out of Gwinnett County schools.
