LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Sheriff's officials are trying to determine how an inmate obtained a handcuff key.

Jail employees received a tip Friday that 19-year-old Reco West was hiding a handcuff key somewhere in his cell.

Deputies searched the cell without finding the key, but later found it in West's mouth. They are now working to determine how he got the key and how long he had it.

West is one of six men arrested earlier this month for shooting and killing 15-year-old Nicholas Jackson II in a botched home invasion. Gwinnett County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Sean Smith said West now faces additional charges related to the key.
