ATLANTA (WXIA) - Andrew Young III - known as Bo - may share the same name with his iconic father, civil rights leader and former Mayor Andrew Young, but make no mistake about it. He continues to pave his own road to success while at the same time being a family man.

A huge part of it comes from his upbringing.

"We generally want to help one another," he said. "We all do."

Bo is doing just that. He is a big part of the force behind the website GiveLocally.net.

"What GiveLocally.net does, is that it allows you to feel the reward from the people that you are helping. But also track it. To know that your money is being used in the way that you want to it used," he said.

Here's how it works. Internet users visit GiveLocally.net and post their needs -- such as needing help to buy groceries or to pay a phone bill. Recipients are then screened by the staff, and once they're matched with a donor searching the site, a voucher, instead of cash, is then issued.

Bo says he sees the website as a tool to help those less fortunate -- especially in some of the hardest hit areas in Atlanta and throughout the country.

"There are so many families who want to give but they want their give to make a difference," he said. "They want to be able to see it and to track it."
He's not alone in this endeavor. The founder of GiveLocally.net is Brad Newman.

"We think we have a winning one of a kind way to empower in a fun and uplifting way," Newman said.
Both man say the internet start-up -- not to be confused with a non-profit -- is unlike any other charity.

What does Bo's father think of the project?

"One of the things is, my dad is not the most internet savvy person in the world," Bo said.

But he gets it and he likes it.

"He's very proud of what Brad and I are doing at GiveLocally.net," Bo said.
