ATLANTA -- Pinterest.com is the internet sensation that's causing sleepless nights, lost productivity at work and has millions of people, mostly women, glued to their computers.
Pinterest is a social media site where people can collect ideas, share them with others and organize them on virtual pinboards.
It's very popular for recipes, home décor and do it yourself tips, fashion and beauty, crafts and wedding planning.
How can Pinterest save you money? You can collect hundreds of recipes without buying cookbooks and magazines or using up printer ink with your computer printing out recipes.
And Pinterest is full of thrifty tips. My recipe board has a copy cat recipe for a Chik-Fil-A sandwich plus hundreds of other recipes. There is also a link to a website where you can enter what ingredients you have on hand and it will give you recipes.
I also have a Ways to Save Board which includes my own tips and those I have borrowed from other thrifty people I follow. I just found some great tips for storing vegetables so they don't go bad, and another pin has instructions to make eco-friendly cleaning products at home. It's always growing! And check out 11Alive's Pinterest page as well!
I'm hoping Pinterest will help eliminate the piles of magazines, clippings and notes on my desk.
