ATLANTA -- About 20 to 30 people stood in line in Downtown Atlanta overnight to be among the first to get their hands on a new Nike sneaker.
The customers lined up in front of Walter's Clothing near Georgia State University Friday morning, waiting to buy the Nike Galaxy Foamposite One, a $220 shoe with a glow-in-the-dark insole, according to the website nicekicks.com. The site estimates that the limited edition shoes may sell for thousands of dollars online.
Nationwide pandemonium over the shoes, reported by 11Alive sister station WTSP in Tampa, Fla., calls to mind the rush to buy the new Air Jordans in December 2011. Three people were arrested in DeKalb County when they "became unruly" while waiting to get inside Stonecrest Mall to buy the shoes.
