ATLANTA -- For the past two days professional athletes have been inspiring local high school students as part of NIKE's observance of Black History Month." Answering the call to greatness", brought professional athletes to high schools in Atlanta and Clayton County encouraging students to use sports to open doors for their futures.

Atlanta Dream Guard Lindsey Harding, New York Giants Safety Deon Grant and Former Falcons Fullback Fred McCreary told stories of overcoming adversity to reach their goals.  The students also got to hear from Tennis Pro Jewel Peterson, and Former NHL Star Anson Carter, plus Hawks PA Announcer and V-103 host Ryan Cameron.

11Alive's Sam Crenshaw served as emcee for the events that made stops at Mundy's Mill HS and Forest Park HS in Clayton County, with visits to Grady HS and Carver HS in Atlanta.

"Answering the call to greatness" marked NIKE's 5th year of observing Black History Month in the Atlanta area. The athletes on the panel wore shirts and shoes that were designed by NIKE to honor Black History Month.
