UNION CITY, Ga. -- Police are investigating a home invasion in which a couple was killed and two kids were critically injured.
The slayings happened late Saturday at a home in Union City.
A neighbor, Graylen Rainey, says assailants kicked in the front door of a home on Tartan Court in the Shannon Glen subdivision, went inside and started shooting.
However, Union City spokeswoman Gloria Hodgson said there was no forced entry into the home and the residents were targeted because of "ongoing illicit activity within the residence."
The two people who were killed were identified as 31-year-old Shannon Bell and 39-year-old Consuellow Bell.
Nineteen-year-old ReSawan Rainey and a 12-year-old boy were both wounded in the shooting. Rainey was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, while the 12-year-old was treated at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
Police have not named any suspects.
