GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old inmate in the Hall County Jail.
Hall County sheriff's Sgt. Kiley Sargent says the inmate, Sabrina Mitchell of Jefferson, became ill, fainted and went into cardiac arrest at around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Sargent says that foul play is not suspected, and that it's standard procedure for the GBI to investigate the deaths of people in custody.
Authorities say Mitchell had been in jail since Apr. 3 after being arrested for traffic violations and also awaiting transfer holds and charges in Jackson and Clarke counties.
