Other Tweets targeted the judge in the case, Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester.
"Zimmerman released from jail someone kill the judge!!!!!" said a tweet from @Rick_Cobain, which was echoed by a number of other Tweets early Monday.
Zimmerman, 28, was charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Martin, 17, in late February. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, said he shot Martin in self-defense during an altercation at the gated community where Zimmerman and Martin's father lived. Supporters of Martin, along with the teen's parents said Martin, who was returning from a convenience store, was targeted because of his race and gunned down in cold blood by an overzealous Zimmerman.
The case has generated a national firestorm of controversy over racial profiling and the rights of gunholders.
