Atlanta Braves spokeswoman Beth Marshall says a story on WXIA alerted the team to the possible misuse of the team's logo.
"We forwarded the story to Major League Baseball as they handle all trademark infringements on behalf of all MLB clubs, so we will await their review," Marshall wrote in an email.
The story described how a misspelling on Twitter came to life on the internet, with "#barves" hashtags becoming commonplace among posts written by Atlanta Braves fans.
Marshall called the use of the Braves logo design on the "Barves" shirt "improper and illegal."
"We appreciate the fandom that
this company is trying to exhibit but we also need them to realize it's
illegal and could harm our business," Marshall wrote.
