CANTON, Ga. -- It was all planned -- Alex Massey and Chris Benson would wed, in May, at the River Baptist Church which was housed in an office complex in Canton.
However, everything came to a screeching halt when a devastating overnight fire destroyed much of the complex, including the church.
The couple didn't know what to do. But the Help Desk did and within hours it had quite a surprise for Alex and Chris.
"What if I told you that you were going to get married at Chateau Elan," Bill Liss of the 11Alive Help Desk asked.
"I'd probably cry'" said Massey.
And, cry, she did.
This past weekend, for Alex and Chris and 200 guests, Chateau Elan pulled out all the stops.
A gala all-expense paid outdoor wedding under a near perfect blue sky on the Chateau Winery Lawn.
"The venue we were at was good but this definitely goes into the great category and is a huge blessing for us," Benson said.
"It was better than I could ever have imagined," Massey said. "We are grateful that everyone put in so much to make this day so special for both of us."
Before the event ended, Chateau Elan added an extra touch for the newlyweds -- the bridal suite.
