BARROW COUNTY, Ga. -- All lanes of southbound Interstate 85 have reopened in Barrow County, after an accident involving a tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials.
The entire roadway was shut down from SR 211 (exit 126) to Interstate 985 (exit 113) after the truck caught fire and crashed at about 4 a.m.
Barrow County Emergency Services spokesman Lt. Scott Dakin said a fire in the truck's rear brakes spread to the trailer in the crash, and a small amount of the truck's hazardous contents leaked out.
Authorities spent several hours trying to determine if the contents posed a danger to passing drivers before opening the roadway.
