SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- All northbound lanes of GA 400 are now open following a wrong-way driver crash at Northridge Road.
It happened shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Sandy Springs police Captain Steve Rose said a vehicle entered the expressway in the wrong direction, crashed head-on into a street sweeper truck and burst into flames.
The driver was trapped for a time in the burning auto. He was freed and air-lifted to Grady Hospital. Police said the unidentified man is in critical condition suffering from burns and other injuries.
The occupants of the street sweeper truck were not injured.
Southbound traffic was not affected by the wreck.
