ATLANTA, Ga. -- Fire officials need your help finding the person or persons responsible for setting more than half a dozen homes on fire in southwest Atlanta.
"I've been on this street ever since 1974," said Wayman Maddox.
Maddox says never in his 40 years of calling Ashby Grove Street home has he seen so many burned houses.
Some of the places are vacant - many of them once occupied.
"What they just standing there for?" asked Maddox. "Ain't nobody gone buy nothing like that."
The most recent fire happened this past Monday night at 1004 Ashby Grove.
The two homes next door were also destroyed by fire.
We took a walk down the block counting the spots that had visible fire damage and came up with this number - eight homes.
All of which reportedly caught fire within the past several months.
"Probably more than that," said Maddox.
Maddox calls it all one big mess.
"All this is garbage." said Maddox. "It ain't nothing but a dump over here."
We put in a call to the Atlanta Fire Department. But we didn't need any confirmation about an arson investigation after seeing this flyer offering a 10 thousand dollar reward to anyone who could help lead to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crimes.
"See you have a lot of homeless people out here and whatever they're doing in the house, there is nobody to really protect it or watch what they're doing."
Maddox also believes drug addicts who frequent the area are to blame.
Bottom line....it's all leading to fires that nearly cost a resident his life.
Maddox tells 11Alive he is tired of calling for help.
"Why call someone and they don't never come out and see what you want?" asked Maddox.
