ATLANTA -- Encouraging news on new jobs coming to Metro Atlanta.

In science and technology, Atlanta-based Novelis is hiring more than 70 scientists and technicians for its new World Technology Center opening in Kennesaw.

The company is the world leader in rolled aluminum products and is consolidating its worldwide research centers into the new Cobb County facility.

Hiring, according to Novelis CEO Phil Martens, will continue.

"I would expect in a few years we will have 150-200 people employed here with a full state-of-the-art Technical Center operating as our worldwide hub for all of our technical and research needs," Martens said.

And in insurance, the state's biggest insurance carrier, State Farm, is bringing 500 jobs in sales, customer service and claims adjusting to its new operations center that will open by year-end near Perimeter Mall.

State Farm is hiring right now for those jobs.

The Metro Atlanta job market is continuing to show improvement.

Since last May, 28,000 new jobs have been added, with 11,000 of them just in the last month.
