SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Who wins when a bicycle races a car and a bus through city streets? For the fourth straight year, Savannah city officials are putting on a demonstration to find out.
The 4-mile race from a shopping center to City Hall will be held Thursday as Savannah observes Dump the Pump Day, a national event that encourages cleaner commuting.
Three racers will compete. One will board a bus on its regular route to City Hall. Another will drive a car to a downtown parking deck and walk to City Hall, while the bicyclist will be able to go straight to a bike rack outside the building.
Savannah officials say the bike rider - Savannah Bicycle Campaign director Frank McIntosh - has won the race each of the previous three years.
