Amputee rescued from Decatur apartment fire

DECATUR, Ga. -- DeKalb County Fire crews rescued a wheelchair-bound man from a burning building on Monday night.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Crumb, crews were able to rescue the man unharmed. 

Residents informed authorities that the amputee was possibly trapped in his apartment on the 200 block of Northern Avenue in Decatur.  

Six units were damaged and seven adults were displaced as a result of this fire. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced individuals. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
