GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who led them on a high speed chase down I-985, after a 3 hour search, on Tuesday evening.

The man, 39-year-old Michael Barnier Jr., fled from the Murphy Road Probation Office while his probation officer attempted to serve him with a felony warrant.

According to police, the man "jumped into his pick-up truck and fled the scene" with the probation officer in the back of his truck.

The suspect led authorities on a high speed pursuit and exited the truck on foot near the Spout Springs Road exit.

Barnier has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, obstruction and numerous traffic violations.
