WXIA --- Recently, a former contestant on "The Apprentice" and an Atlanta native wrote an editorial on news site, Huffington Post, and it's attracting a lot of opinions, both, good and bad.

In the article, called "Will the Real Black People of Atlanta Please Stand Up," Kelly Smith Beaty discusses how Atlanta, which was once considered the "jewel of the South" has "lost it's shine" with shows like Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and VH1's Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Beaty discusses accomplishments by African-Americans in Atlanta like the "uninterrupted succession of black mayors since 1974" and the rise of black Hollywood partly due to Tyler Perry and his immense success throughout her article.

The writer, also, hints that creating shows about prominent Atlantans like The Russell Family, the Herndon family,  influential musical acts and great athletes would give outsiders a more accurate depiction of a city with such a "rich legacy."
