ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division has issue a Code Orange Air Quality alert for all of Metro Atlanta for Wednesday.

Under code orange conditions, the air outdoors is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening hours when ozone concentrations are at their highest.

After a one-day reprieve, the temperature and humidity in Metro Atlanta are moving back upward. 11Alive Chief Meteorologist Mike Francis says highs on Wednesday are expected to be near 90, and getting hotter for the weekend. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to get into the upper 90s in the city proper, and may touch the triple-digits in areas just to our west.

Heat index figures are expected to run above 100 by the weekend as well.
