ATLANTA -- Atlanta hit a temp of 106 degrees between 3:45 and 4pm Saturday. That is the hottest day on record for the city. The previous hottest day was 105 degrees in July of 1980.
We also broke the highest temperature record for June 30. The previous record high was 98 degrees set in 1936. The average high for Saturday's date is 89.
We will break another temperature for Sunday's date. The record for July 1 is 99 degrees. We will go up to 103 Sunday afternoon to set a new record for the date.
