GRAYSON, Ga. -- 16-year-old Brittany Sailors was killed by a suspected drunk driver in Grayson Sunday night.

According to police, Sailors pulled out in front of 23-year-old Mutajah Paasewe at the intersection of Graystone Parkway and Lakeview Road.  He hit her car, killing her.  Police said Sailors and her passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Paasewe was arrested for driving under the influence, but refused to take a field sobriety test. Passengers in both cars were treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.

Monday afternoon, friends and classmates of Sailors came to the scene of the wreck to try to cope with what happened there together.  They said Sailors was a cheerleader at Grayson High School who prided herself on having friends from all different types of backgrounds.

"She was everything to everybody," said friend Kelly Martinelli.  "Everybody loved her, she was an amazing girl."

Martinelli and others said Sailors went by her middle name, Angel, and it fit her well.

"She had a spark that no one else could have and she gave out love that no one else could ever repay," said friend Matthew Menendez.

"God needed another angel, and she was one of the sweetest most kind-hearted people you'll ever meet," said friend and neighbor Jeffrey Hawkins.  "I guess he just needed her up there to bless more lives than she did down here."

Earlier reports by police said Paasewe ran a stop sign and hit Sailors, but Gwinnett Police Corporal Edwin Ritter said Monday afternoon that information was incorrect.
