OMAHA, Neb. -- University of Georgia swimmers Andrew Gemmell and Kara Lynn Joyce have earned their spots in the 2012 Olympic games.
Both qualified on Monday night, the final night of the United States Olympic Trials at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
Gemmell, a current UGA student, won the men's 1,500-meter freestyle on Monday. Joyce, a former Lady Bulldog, qualified for her third Olympiad by coming in second in the women's 50-meter freestyle.
"This was an incredible night, and it caps what has been an awesome week for Georgia swimming," UGA swimming coach Jack Bauerle said.
The two will join five swimmers with ties to Georgia.
