ATLANTA -- A woman was hit and killed by a car in south Fulton County Thursday morning.
Fulton County Police spokesman Scott McBride said the woman was walking along Campbellton Road near Fulton Industrial Boulevard at around 5:30 a.m. when she was hit.
The driver of the car stopped and called 911, McBride said. The victim was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at around 6:30 a.m. McBride said the woman was in her late 30s; her name has not been released.
Campbellton Road was blocked near the scene for part of Thursday morning. GDOT spokeswoman Chata Spikes said investigators reopened the road at around 7:40 a.m.
McBride said it was dark outside when the woman was hit. Campbellton Road is not lit and does not have a crosswalk where the accident occurred.
