ATLANTA -- The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the far northeast Georgia mountains and into the Carolinas for Thursday afternoon and evening.
This watch does NOT include metro Atlanta, but 11Alive Meteorologist Allison Chinchar says other potentially heavy storms could sneak into the metro area later in the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of north and central Georgia in a Slight Risk area for severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening.
Slow moving storms with high winds, heavy rain and vivid lightning are possible across the northern half of the state through the late afternoon and evening hours.
