Storm wreaks havoc in Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- According to the City of Sandy Springs, Tuesday's storms damaged a home, a car and closed a number of streets in the area.

The following were closed as a result of fallen trees or wires:  

  • Twin Branches Way at Oak Trail 
  • Glenairy Way  
  • 300 Johnson Ferry Road
  • 5666 Long Island Drive
  • 55 Marchman Drive
  • Riverside at Old Riverside
  • Glenridge Drive at Glenridge Avenue
  • 5901 Peachtree Dunwoody Road
  • 4869 Coach Lane
  • Mt. Vernon Road at Dunwoody Station Drive
  • Peachtree Dunwoody at Hammond Drive
  • Dunwoody Club Drive at Jett Ferry
  • High Point at Zeblin Road
  • Lake Forest at Marrimen

Sandy Spring officials also reported that a tree fell and damaged a home near Mt. Vernon Highway. Another tree damaged a car outside Mt. Vernon Towers on Johnson Ferry Road. 

Only one injury was reported by a firefighter wounded by a frightened cat.
