Possible lightning strike blaze engulfs Woodstock home

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Cherokee County Fire and EMS suspect lightning to be the cause of a house fire on Jefferson Township Lane in Woodstock.

According to authorities, firefighters found flames coming from the home shortly after 7 p.m.

A 69-year-old woman who lives in the home said a lightning bolt struck the house, however she couldn't find an signs of damage until about five or 10 minutes later. 

The woman's kitchen filled with smoke, and she and her 75-year-old husband evacuated. 

The fire caused fire, smoke and water damage to the home. No injuries were reported.
