FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- A Peachtree City father of nine died Saturday at Piedmont Fayette Hospital after being struck by lightning at Lake Peachtree.
Burnette Hayes, 52, died from injuries sustained Friday when he and a friend were standing near the lake shore during a passing storm.
According to Peachtree City Fire spokesman Ron Mundy, the men were at the Battery Way boat launch when they were struck.
Witnesses say lightning hit a tree next to where the two men were standing .
The second unidentified man, also in his 50's, remains at Atlanta Medical Center. His condition is not known.
