Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns won the amnesty auction for
former Houston Rockets forward Luis Scola on Sunday.
Scola, who was amnestied by the Rockets on Friday, averaged 15.5 points and
6.5 rebounds per game last season and still had three seasons remaining on his
contract.
The Suns will pay the bid amount, which wasn't announced, of Scola's deal and
the Rockets will pick up the rest.
The 32-year-old Argentinean had his best season in 2010-11 when he posted
averages of 18.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Phoenix also exercised its amnesty provision on forward Josh Childress, who
had two years remaining on his contract, as well as a player option for the
third season.
Childress averaged a career-low 2.9 points per game in 34 contests last
season.
