GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Five people were rescued from the Yellow River after their rafts got stuck on a pillar Thursday afternoon.
According to Gwinnett County Fire and EMS, Around 2:30 p.m. crews were dispatched on the river near Annistown Road and Johnson Road to rescue one adult and four children.
Authorities say the five had planned to get out of the water before the bridge but that two of the rafts got stuck and another was unable to stop.
Representatives from the Swift Water Rescue Team and Gwinnett County Firefighters were able to rescue them rafters using throw ropes without injury.
Despite not wearing life jackets, none of the rafters were injured.
