LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Commissioners in Gwinnett County rejected a proposal to create a public-private partnership for the operation of Briscoe Field.

In conjunction with the rejection, the board of commissioners withdrew an application from Briscoe Field to participate in the Federal Aviation Administration's privatization program.

"On behalf of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, I would like to thank the residents who selflessly served on the airport privatization citizens review committee," said Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash. "For more than six months, these dedicated volunteers researched issues surrounding privatization, evaluated Briscoe Field's current and potential uses, attended numerous meetings, and prepared a final written report with their recommendations for the airport's future."
