Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran
guard Leonard Davis to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Davis spent the majority of the 2011 season with the Detroit Lions but never
saw game action.
Originally drafted by the Cardinals with the second overall pick in the 2001
NFL Draft, Davis spent the first six years of his career in Arizona (2001-06).
The Texas product then spent four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2007-10),
where he was a three-time Pro Bowl selection from 2007-09.
A 33-year-old native of Wortham, TX, Davis has started all 155 games in which
he has appeared.
San Francisco also waived offensive lineman David Gonzales.
