The forecast path of Tropical Storm Ernesto
MIAMI -- Tropical Depression Five has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Ernesto, the fifth tropical storm of this season.
The National Hurricane Center says a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique and Guadeloupe. Other interests in the Lesser Antillies are advised to monitor the progress of Ernesto.
Maximum sustained winds on Ernesto are at 50 mph. Ernesto is expected to move into the eastern Caribbean Sea by Friday morning, and is expected to strengthen into the second hurricane of the season by early next week.
Forecasters said Ernesto is expected to move across the Caribbean, remaining to the south of Jamaica.
