off R.A. Dickey in the fifth and then provided the key one off him in the
seventh to put the Padres over the top.
Alonso had two of San Diego's four hits against the knuckleballer Dickey,
including the go-ahead double in the seventh, as the Padres rallied past the
New York Mets, 3-1, in the opener of a three-game set.
Clayton Richard (8-11) surrendered a run on eight hits and two walks for the
Padres, who had dropped five of their previous six coming in.
Huston Street recorded the final four outs to notch his 18th save of the year.
