LONDON -- Sanya Richards-Ross won the women's 400m at the 2012 London Olympics with a time of 49.55.
Another American, metro Atlanta native DeeDee Trotter, placed third with a time of 49.72.

It is the first time since 1984 the U.S. has won two medals in the women's 400m.
Great Britain's Christine Ohuruogu, the Beijing gold medalist, won the silver medal with a time of 49.70.
Francena McCorory, the third American in the race, placed ninth.
