JONESBORO, Ga. -- A Clayton County judge sentenced Jonathan Bun to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Thursday.

In May, Bun was convicted of murder in the shooting death of Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy Richard "Rick" Daly, 55, during a traffic stop in July 2011. Bun was 17 years old at the time of the shooting, and said during the trial that he had no idea that a deputy was walking up to his friend's car, so he opened fire.

In addition to the life sentence, Bun was sentenced to an additional 70 years in the case.
