Atlanta School Superintendent Erroll B. Davis Jr.
ATLANTA -- Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis gave his State of The Schools address Tuesday morning.
He did so as parents all over the city are angry over changes in bus routes that have some kids walking unsafe streets.
Davis has promised to have changes in place by Wednesday.
During the state of schools address, he admitted to missteps with transportation, saying about 70% of students in Atlanta Public Schools were affected in some way by the closing of schools, redistricting and the changes in transportation.
In retrospect, he promises better communication, better planning and community engagement when it comes to things taking place in the system.
Davis said, "Certainly as we look at our policies on how far students have to walk, we think there are appropriate distances from an environmental perspective, so we're going to go back with a lot of parental input and look at a lot of special situation."
