MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a former Georgia Department of Labor employee accused of soliciting bribes from a contractor.
The attorney general's office announced Tuesday that Peter Brown was indicted on one count of bribery. Authorities say he solicited $4,000 from a contractor he supervised in exchange for future labor department contracts.
Authorities say the contractor notified the Office of the Inspector General, which referred the case to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The GBI arranged for the contractor to meet Brown and give him the money in April.
The contractor took hidden audio and video recordings of the conversation, according to authorities. Brown was arrested after the meeting.
It was not immediately clear whether Brown has a lawyer.
