MACON, Ga. -- A trial will begin for a 56-year-old Warner Robins husband accused of arranging for a hit man to kill his wife.
James Clements will stand trial starting Monday in Houston County Superior Court for the 2011 death of his spouse, 47-year-old Joni Clements.
Authorities said Clements hired Richard Sybert to kill his wife in exchange for $1,000, a car and a date with a stripper. They accuse his father, Robert Sybert, of providing the gun and driving a get-away car. Father and son have struck deals with prosecutors in exchange for their testimony.
One of Clements' defense attorneys, Laura Hogue, told The Telegraph that among her jobs is exposing the bias of Richard Sybert, who struck a deal to avoid the death penalty.
