LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - There is now an official cause of death for a man who was shot in the back of a Jonesboro police car.

According to the Arkansas Crime Lab, Chavis Carter, 21, did shoot himself in the head.

Last month, during a stop, Carter, was handcuffed and searched twice and put in the back of a patrol car.

Jonesboro police chief Michael Yates says it appears Carter, had a concealed gun and shot himself in the head. But the family and other supporters have always doubted that theory.
