Two deputies shot in North Carolina, suspect wanted

RANDLEMAN, NC -- Authorities in Randolph County are investigating a shooting that involves two deputies.

11Alive's Greensboro sister station WFMY has been able to confirm that two Randolph County deputies have been shot.

Investigators said the shooting happened around 2:30pm at the 220 South, Highway 311 exit during a traffic stop.

Jamie Lee Ashley is wanted in connection to the shooting. Investigators said Ashley is armed and dangerous. There were two girls in the car with Ashley when deputies stopped him. He was last seen after running into the woods after the shooting.

Ashley has some outstanding warrants for Break-Ins in Guilford and Randolph Counties.

WFMY has learned that both deputies have been flown to other hospitals outside of Randolph County for treatment. Their condition is not known at this time.

Law enforcement officers from several different agencies are on the scene.

The NC SBI Office confirms they have agents in route to the scene.
