ATLANTA -- MARTA Breeze vending machines stopped accepting debit and credit cards during the height of a busy weekend for downtown events and still aren't back to normal.
MARTA issued the following statement just before 7 p.m. Saturday: "Customers are encouraged to bring cash for entry until debit and credit card function is restored."
Customers will be able to use cash only to buy or load Breeze cards until the system's restored. Spokeswoman Ashanti Allen told 11Alive crews have been working since Friday night to fix the system-wide glitch, but she didn't know when service would be restored.
MARTA has had ongoing problems with the Breeze vending system. The credit and debit card functions were down for several days in mid-August; debit was unavailable back in May.
"MARTA regrets this inconvenience to customers and is working diligently with Cubic - the Breeze system vendor - to correct this issue as quickly as possible," MARTA's statement read.
