CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- The Georgia State Patrol has identified the two people killed at around 6:45 p.m. Monday in a wreck on Georgia Highway 20 near Rogers Cut Off Road.
Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said 54-year-old Molly Barnes and 22-year-old Christopher Barnes died in the crash. The driver of the car, 58-year-old James Lee Barnes, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital with a head injury. All three are from Gaylesville, Alabama.
Authorities said the Barnes' Chevrolet Trailblazer was driving west on Georgia Highway 20 when it left the road, traveled down a steep embankment and hit several trees. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
