(USA TODAY) As of Thursday, according to his tumblr page, John Mayer won't be talking for a while.
"Silent for the next few months, no singing for probably six, but all signs point to this being the last step in getting to perform again."
Back in March, Mayer canceled his tour, taking an indefinite hiatus for a granuloma or growth on his vocal cords. On Aug. 27, he had surgery to remove the granuloma. It's his second surgery. The first was in October 2011.
"Back to notebooks and iPad to communicate for the time being. Zen living at its finest... so if you see me out and about and I don't answer you when you say hello, I'm not ignoring you. Promise," Mayer writes.
"I'll try and post more on here, but I've gotten really good at keeping my thoughts to myself and I don't exactly see anybody starving for my take on things. But it might be fun to offer some kind of window into this very odd and slightly beautiful time."
