Cobb County School Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa.
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County expects to hire about 30 teachers to cope with overcrowded classrooms.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa told The Marietta Daily Journal that he will ask the county's school board to approve the new positions during a meeting Wednesday.
Enrollment figures show the district has 105,757 students. That's 1,364 more students than anticipated.
As a result, some classes are well above the district's average student-teacher ratio. The crowding is particularly severe in some of the county's middle schools.
