(WXIA) - Paris Hilton was caught on tape this week making negative statements about gay men, saying "most of them probably have AIDS." The audio was posted on RadarOnline.com Thursday.
According to the New York Daily News, Hilton and a gay friend were in the backseat of a cab in early September when the cab driver secretly recorded their conversation.
The homophobic comments came about, according to the Daily News, when Hilton and her friend were talking about an app called Grindr, which some gay men use to find sexual partners.
"Ewww. Gay guys are like the horniest people in the world," Hilton can be heard saying on the recording. "That's disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS."
A representative for Hilton released a statement that was quoted by RadarOnline, which said, in part, "Her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this only provide a portion of the conversation. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays."
The statement goes on to point out that Hilton is a "huge supporter of the gay community," and that she would never purposefully make any negative statements about someone's sexual orientation.
