(WXIA) - Former NBC News reporter Henry Champ died Sunday in Washington, according to a report from CBC News.
Champ worked as a correspondent for NBC News from 1983 to 1993, when he became anchor of CBC News Morning. Champ retired from the CBC in 2008 and was serving as chancellor of his alma mater Brandon University in Manitoba.

Prior to joining NBC, he reported for Canada's CTV News, and was among the last Western journalists to leave Vietnam during the fall of Saigon.
Since 2008, Champ was also a contributing blogger to the CBC's website. Survived by his wife and five children, Henry Champ was 75.
